Capacity Building Work Plans
Distributors’ Ethics Portal Work Plan (Medical Device Sector):
This draft document outlays the structure for a virtual platform to support widespread utilisation of the Global Distributor Capacity Building Toolkit that was first released in 2018 and updated in 2019. The deployment of this virtual platform by APEC medical device industry and distributor associations will serve as an important activity to realising the Tokyo Action Agenda. APEC SME Leaders in Ethics and Integrity – LEIP (Biopharmaceutical Sector):
APEC SME LEIP is a multi-stage platform to equip the leaders of SMEs with tools to implement an effective ethics and integrity program in alignment with the APEC Principles, including strong business case and communication components. The first APEC LEIP Seminars are envisaged for pilot across the APEC region in 2020. Nanjing Declaration
Delegates should review the Nanjing Declaration and submit recommendations to inform further updates to previously recorded goals and activities that may be unveiled in 2020. Government Strategies to Encourage Ethical Business Conduct
The 2019 APEC Business Ethics for SMEs Forum unveiled a first draft of a new resource guide detailing various government strategies to encourage ethical business conduct. This guide was produced as a key recommendation from the 2018 Forum. The draft resource guide will soon be circulated by the United States to the APEC SME Working Group and APEC ACT Working Group for review and the inclusion of additional examples. Ministerial Statement
Released on 6 September in Concepción, Chile, before the 2019 APEC Business Ethics for SMEs Forum, the Statement text includes: “We welcome the promotion of ethical business practices that support SMEs and sustainable trade.
